PAST Trust Organic Event

As part of the Trust Organics Fortnight, SAGFIN held a public talk entitled,

‘Genetically Engineered Food: Is there any on your plate?’

at the Adelaide South West Community Centre on Saturday 10th October. It was followed by the SAGFIN AGM.

SAGFIN president Dr. Kate Clinch-Jones explained the science behind genetically engineered food crops and their impact on health and the environment. She identified GM foods that are approved for sale on the Australian market together with flaws in the approval process. Her talk was followed by questions from the informed but concerned audience.

Although we anticipated a larger attendance the contribution from those present was more than expected with all staying behind for the AGM. As a result we had fresh input to our meeting and offers of assistance with letter writing, logo design and investigating options for a new web page. We also acquired two new committee members, Roy Brown and Alex Hodges. Congratulations Roy and Alex.

Another outcome was the creation of two SAGFIN blog-pages which can be found at

and

Take a look and add your comments.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to a successful outcome for our meeting.
